FOREIGN LAND OWNERSHIP IN UGANDA
Every being in the world would love to own land and be able to carry out a number of activities whether commercial, residential or agricultural. But this is not the case for all beings most especially those who are staying or living in a country where they were not born.
In Uganda, foreigners can buy property but there are rules and regulations that have to be followed for a foreigner to be able to own land in Uganda.

In Uganda, local invesors and Ugandan citizens can own land while foreign investors are restricted to long term leases usually from five to 99 years and they can either rent or lease from citizens or the Government of Uganda. The 1995 Constitution of Uganda grants land ownership rights solely to citizens of Uganda and foreigners cannot own land freehold. Foreign investors whether individual or cooperate cannot acquire land for the purpose of crop or animal production.
Foreigners can buy land or property for sale just like any other Ugandan but the difference is that they cannot own a private land title and freehold interest but only leasehold and the Ugandan law requires for acquisition of a private land title and if freehold, it should be owned by a Ugandan or a Ugandan company.
